Trend powers activate! Form of: maxi dress!
I’ve actually had this dress for a while, and I’m a little surprised at myself that it’s taken this long to actually work it into an outfit post instead of just lounging around in it on lazy weekends. I have worn it two or three times for traveling in, though! Those days just weren’t conducive to picture-taking, what with the flights and the exhaustion and all.
This time, I gussied it up a little to make it semi-work-appropriate, and then spent the whole day feeling like I’d come to the office in my pajamas. Well, hypothetical pajamas. I haven’t worn a nightgown for sleeping in since I realized what a pain in the ass nightgowns always end up being. But for daytime wear, it turns out a pseudo-nightgown is pretty fantastic. Get it, whoever brought maxi dresses back!
Things have been cooling down very, very slightly (as in not going over 100F in a day), so naturally I jumped at the chance to make some piping hot broccoli cheese soup Wednesday night. (It was worth every sweat droplet.) My cooking bug is coming back with a vengeance, and I’m cracking my knuckles to make some peach ice cream this weekend, if I can manage it. Also, some garlic butter noodles, ‘cuz I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell Chinese egg noodles. Also-also, we have our annual department barbecue, so I will spend Sunday eating ribs in an inappropriately pretty sundress and possibly learning how to work a paddle boat. What about y’all, anything fun on your radar this weekend?

That is a great dress! I ripped up my striped maxi skirt, because it really wasn’t fitting in the waist, and I figured that I could make a different thing now that my sewing skills have improved. I wonder if I have enough to make a similar dress? I also think I may swipe this look for inspiration.
I call this kind of dress “Business Nightgowns”. I love them dearly. You look beautiful in the purple, and adding the blouse and belt is a great idea for work.
You’ve also made me hungry, craving peach ice cream and egg noodles. With my limited culinary skills, only egg noodles I can do
Yay for the Work Pajamas Club! It feels so good, but naughty, doesn’t it? Like you’ll be sent home to change into grown-up clothes when you’re caught.
You look gorgeous. I have a similar maxi and it does feel like pajamas, but you’ve done a great job making it work appropriate. Also, I covet that necklace if you ever get tired of it…
Very hot! … but the belt should be WAY darker.
Or WAY lighter
I love the concept of the work pajama club
And I love the dress on you.
