Fashion, Books, and (Sometimes) Bikes

What to do when your hair’s growing out and starting to get unruly?

Wear a headscarf, of course. Looking at these now, I feel a little sad that I wasn’t rocking them before, because it’s a cute look! I got it into my head that it looked weird with short hair, but I like it just fine here. Good lesson to try things you think you don’t like every so often–you might surprise yourself! (Orrrrr you might still hate collard greens, who knows. Don’t come cryin’ to me.)

Also, further super-scientific experimenting with this skirt has revealed a Great Truth: I can, in fact, fit an entire hardcover book in the pockets.

Just like magic! (Not every hardcover works, though. I tried it with The Valley of Horses and was sadly disappointed. That beast would probably inadvertently pants me, anyway.)

One of my coworkers told me that I looked like springtime in this outfit, and I guess I do. Pastel colors, gold accessories, the full nine yards.

What can I say? I guess I subconsciously wanted to play off the springy pastel that my hair’s become, especially since the color will be changing this weekend. (Haircut on Saturday, and then I’ve got to decide what direction I want to go in. Black? Orange? Black with orange tips?)

Now that I’ve rediscovered headscarves, I might try some fancier ones in the future, with a fun knot or maybe a braid. For this one, I just looped it around my head, crossed the ends and looped them back, then tied a little knot and tucked it in.

See? Easy-peasy, and pretty cute!

  1. This outfit is just dreamy! I love the sherbet colors on ya :)

  2. You’re lucky you’ve still got a pocket after the horses :o I haven’t bought a book since…October 2009. Although I read prodigiously. iPad. Old peeps need bifocals and backlighting :/

You do look literally like a breath of fresh air. The head scarf is just the icing.

Looking forward to seeing the new ‘do.

  3. Head scarf! I noticed a bunch of scarves and headbands that haven’t got any attention lately, but I thought my hair too short to actually wear them. You have proven me wrong, and now I will pull them out and see what I can come up with.
