Outfit Post: 1/16/12

Today’s post is a bit short, sorry! I went thrifting on Saturday and managed to buy two shirts that were not green, blue or purple AND a cute pair of shoes. This is the first of the tops! It made itself a new home by having that adorable little teal peacock, making it an obvious match for the skirt.

Look at that little guy! He’s so cute! So despite being my first yellow shirt bought for non-costuming purposes pretty much ever, I’m really delighted to have made this purchase. The shirt is Old Navy believe it or not. I might have to wear a long tank underneath in the future, since the place where my skirt comes to is so visible.

Also, Monday was freakishly warm. Chicago really can’t decide about the weather at all. It was 40 out, so baring calf didn’t seem so bad. Of course now, on Tuesday evening, I write from the land of the snowy again. Whatever Chicago.

On top of radically different color scheme, I also had some curious hair stuff going on. I got dressed just before going dancing(shut up, I was cleaning all day so I just wore PJs until like 5pm so I wouldn’t get my clothes all grody) and needed to blow dry my hair so…it did…creative things. After I took outfit pictures, I ended up styling it with product, and only regret that I didn’t take pictures afterwards, because it looked pretty awesome, unlike here, where it looks a little derpy.

Hope our American readers all had a chance to review the literature on PIPA/SOPA and make your own judgements based on that on Wednesday, and then asked their local Senators to act on them, which is the most important thing a participant in a democracy can do when something is up for vote. Even if you disagree with me, I hope your voice was heard. Off my soapbox until the next political emergency rises!

    • πŸ˜€ I’m so proud of myself for sticking to it and ACTUALLY buying a yellow shirt! It took Mia’s textual assurance to make it happen. πŸ˜€

Aw, thanks! I painted the shoes myself!

  1. Mia says:

I’m glad you got it! Filling a space in your wardrobe, definitely, and I feel like the fancier-looking graphic tees like this one are easier to dress up than nerdy/pop-culture-y t-shirts (unless said nerdy/pop-culture-y t-shirts are equally fancy-looking and not just a drawing on the front). Plus, yellow and teal is super great.

P.S. I basically live in my sweats on the weekends unless I’m leaving the house, because I am always and forever cleaning–so I hear you!

    • I think that’s why I ended up getting it. It -is- still a graphic tee, but at least it’s reasonable to imagine a way to dress it up. I want to get some blazers soon to dress up the rest of my tees. :3

I’m glad sweats until 7 is something you do too.

  2. You are too adorable in this ensemble. Such a cute combo, and seems comfy too. The best, in my book.

Also, your hair kinda reminds me of the peacock on your top. Which is always a good thing πŸ™‚
