Outfit Post: 2/7/12

Sweater: Goodwill (Gap) — Long-sleeved tee: Old Navy — Skirt: Goodwill (Yili Ren) — Leggings: Target — Boots: Duo (Ashburn) — Scarf: Antique store — Necklace: Goodwill — Hair clips: Safeway

Oh lawdy, folks. I had an almost cartoonishly bad day yesterday. I mean, nothing bigmclargehuge in terms of bad stuff, just like my brain was extra-leaky. Went to the grocery store, realized at the checkout that I didn’t have my debit card and had to return everything other than what I could pay for with the $26 I had in my pocket, got home and dropped the groceries everywhere, went to get burritos with Mike to cheer me up and left my leftover half a burrito at the taqueria, went to a second grocery store to get the extra veggies I needed for a work party, came back to the car to find out that there was a pin in the cupholder that caused my drink to leak all over the car and get on my white skirt, got home and dropped the groceries again, and broke a glass coin-holder while putting my skirt in the wash.

It sounds absurd when I put it like that, actually. But it was quite disheartening at the time.

Not a terribly pleasant Valentine’s Day when all I wanted to do was eat burritos and watch series 2 of BBC Sherlock. (I finally got Mike into it.)

But, you know, oh well! Worse things have happened and I need to learn not to get so bummed out when I make mistakes. (I have a bad habit of being really hard on myself about forgetting my debit card and things like that, because that sort of thing so easily makes me feel like the facade that I’m a functioning adult is just absolutely torn to ribbons and that I’m doing a terrible job of being a person because I waste everybody’s time. Which isn’t really true, but y’know.) Plus I can be a ghostie on the camera, and that’s worth something.

  1. You know today, I left my debit card in a shop!!! I mean, I left it just sitting there in the card machine, went to this other shop and proceeded to pick up all the vegetables in the world, only to realise that I had no card. Then, I proceeded to open up all my shopping bags from the first shop and my backpack to search for it and made a huge mess and made people wait and the shop guy looked at me weirdly… yeah, not great. Luckily, I found cash to pay for the stuff and found my card. Phew.

Tomorrow will be a better day for both of us. 🙂

I love the pink and yellow combo, it’s so pretty!

  2. Gah, I’m sorry you had an irritating Valentine’s Day! Little stuff like that can be more frustrating than an actual, grapple-able problem sometimes: it just feels like the universe (or your own brain) is against you. Here’s hoping that you have a much better post-Val day (because hey, a new day and discount candy!).

Your outfit made me gargle with happiness a little bit: so cheery! Scarf through belt-looped skirt is a great use of… everything, and I am, as ever, enchanted by matching bits of outfits to the colors in a print. Hooray!

  3. I’m sorry you had such a bad day… I have days like this to and can get sooo frustrated by small things like missing my bus 😦 Feel hugged!

Your outfit looks fantastic though! Love the scarf as belt :]

  4. Oooh sounds like a “Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day” kinda day. Glad you came out on the other side!

In other news, this outfit is super adorable. I’m loving all the colors, especially how the scarf picks up that gorgeous red that your hair is these days.

  5. Oh no! You need one of those little debit cards that attaches to your keys… or would you lose your keys then? And are those only credit cards? I forget, but my father has one. It’s not attached to his keys though. Or… you need a wallet with lots of places for cards and money! I hope your white skirt survives. It’s cool to see this one styled for winter!
