Button-front: Goodwill (Penguin) — Skirt: Goodwill (Target) — Leggings: Target — Boots: Macy’s — Ring: Gift — Hair Dye: Special Effects (Atomic Pink)

I’ll give you three guesses what’s different about me.

Go on. I bet you clever folks can figure it out.

Okay, okay, I’ll fess up: I shaved my legs dyed my hair! Finally! Again!

Well, okay, I’ve dyed my hair a couple times between now and last year, but I mean Dyed. You know, unnatural. Bright Effing Pink. And I got clearance from no less than three different superiors at work to do it.

I know hair is just hair, but I’m really glad I got to go back to pink. It makes me happy, and it entertains other people (which is just a bonus). I’m already thinking about what color I’m going to go for Tia’s wedding–maybe purple, to match my shoes and sash? After that I’m almost certainly going to get a buzz cut, and I’ll be back to my natural color for a while, but it’s nice to have the option, and I like what it indicates about my workplace now that certain administrative changes have taken place. It makes me genuinely happier to work at an institution where appearance isn’t conservatively policed, and where I feel like I can be myself.

  1. White skirts and pink hair need to be permanent fixtures in your wardrobe. I’ve always wanted to dye the ends of my hair pink. The most I’ve ever changed my hair was going red, and that fried it. It’s too dark to bleach enough for interesting colors… unless I want to cut if off in three months. I already have quite a few greys and wish my hair would just go completely white. I think that would be so cool

Loving the color , but yes I am not so secretly hoping you’ll do Purple for the wedding! I do love a color coordinated bridal party! can’t hardly wait!

  3. YAY! Pink-haired Mia’s delight me in a powerful way. Also, Alex is totally right: the pink hair/white skirt combo is just perfect. On top of that, pairing your boots with all that punky hardware with the light skirt is way too fun.

  4. HAIR!

    Looks so good.

I didn’t get the fancy job I wanted, but then I perked up when I realised it meant I could dye my hair again. It just doesn’t feel RIGHT not whacky colours…
