Top: Goodwill (H&M) — Skirt: From my friend Leah’s free pile — Tights: Target — Flats: American Rag Compagnie — Earrings: World Market — Necklace: Hand-me-down — Flower pin: handmade
I got no less than three comments at work regarding the fact that the pink in the plaid of this top matches the pink of my hair. I hadn’t even noticed when I was picking this outfit out, but there you go! It’s always nice to look more color-coordinated than intended. (By the way, I promise that I’m not trying to make weird shadow animals on the wall–for some reason I thought that would be a good way to show off my nail polish. Just squint and pretend that you can see the yellow.)
I also worked another flower pin into the rotation for Mission: Cover Up the Bleach Stain on Mia’s Lavender Skirt! And it looked pretty cute and possibly even intentional? I’m so lazy that it’ll probably be at least another year or two before I manage to applique some crap on there or whatever, so hey, it’s nice to know I’ve got other options.
And goodness gracious me, have I really gotten halfway through this post without mentioning EBEW? The stars, they have fallen out of the sky!
Anyway–when I heard that pastels had won out, I didn’t jump for joy. I like pastels okay, but they’re not something I’m personally drawn to. I’ve done, I think, one cute all-pastel outfit, and at the time I was like, “ahhh, so twee, how does this work.” Which, you know, silly of me! I’ve come to embrace the twee parts of myself, and also come to the understanding that all-pastel outfits don’t necessarily need to read “twee.” For example: pastel plaid. I mean, it’s still kind of springy and Easter-y (and sure, it has ruffles around the upper placket)–I wouldn’t go so far as to say it adds edge or anything–but it kind of adds style variety, I think. Maybe?
Or I’m just making things up. That’s usually an option.
My pewter unicorn, though–I think we can all agree that it is universally badass.
