Blazer: Thrifted (Studio I) — Tank Top: Goodwill — Skirt: Goodwill (George Stretch) — Shoes: Goodwill (Aerosoles) — Bangle: Thrifted — Necklace: Goodwill

This? Is how I wish my new thrifted blazer fit. Up top you can see how it actually fits, at least when I have it open. Pretty comfy, and I love the color, but I’m not sure how I feel about how it hangs, and I have to wear it open if I want any of the under-garment color to show. Quite a conundrum. Plus, I feel like the sleeves are kind of a weird length; I may try and shorten them a bit. What do y’all think?

I have a hard time figuring out sizes of tops and blazers, especially since my automatic tendency is to have everything quite fitted and I feel somewhat awkward even in intentionally looser garments. Maybe it looks okay loose and I’m feeling weird over nothing? (I may have to invest in fashion tape to keep it open-but-not-flapping-in-the-breeze, though.)

If yesterday’s outfit post was ice-cream-themed, I think today’s theme is citrus: lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit! I have been kind of obsessing over warmer colors lately, and once I brought the blazer home (minus the shoulder pads) this felt like a natural combination. I think all the elements here might be going on my 30 for 30 list–we’ll see about the yellow skirt–but I just couldn’t sit on this outfit idea for that long.

It had to be seen, and I was powerless to refuse. You know how it is when clothing strong-arms you into doing its bidding, right?

  1. Favorite outfit alert! Seriously. This look makes my heart sing. Also I feel I have used that same expression for you and maybe you again or Tia in the last week. HOWEVER that’s because I adore you both. And also this outfit is freaking brilliant. I adore how your hair works into the citrus theme too… though what citrus if fuchsia I cannot tell ya! Blood orange maybe? Anyway, just sayin’ these colors are making me so happy together like that.

Also, totally relate to the lack of fitted-ness sometimes in tops and how that makes me feel. But I believe that that blazer there looks great as is. It’d also look great tailored a bit, but sometimes it’s fun to work with a slightly different shape. It works very well in this ensemble, dahling.

  2. I also feel weird in things that do not hug me. If you can get over it, I really do dig this blazer. I’m so impressed by the sheer number of short-sleeve blazers you seem to find out thrifting lady. >_>

  3. Have I mentioned I love your bright pink hair? Because I do — it’s fantastic, and I love that it matches your blazer! Lookin’ spiffy.

As for the blazer sleeves, pin them up a bit (I’d say an inch and half-ish) and parade around the house in it. Sleeves that length are always at least a bit awkward, and I don’t think it’s so awkward that the eye is all “DUDE what is up with those sleeves?!” about it.

    • That came off much bossier than I intended it to! I’m showing my data What’s What today (it, unsurprisingly, is only somewhat cooperating), and apparently that bled over into internet comments. Apologies!

  4. Mia… I love it. Both loose and fitted, so tailor it if you want to… or not. The loose fit looks very 1960s to me. I wear a lot of loose things (except for pants) but I’m a rabid MKA fan and they’re the queens of oversize everything.

Please wear these colors all spring, okay?
