Top: Gift — Skirt: Goodwill (George Stretch) — Shoes: 6pm.com (Sam & Libby) — Bracelet: Gift — “Pearls”: Thrifted — Earrings: Gift from Katie!

WERK IT, BETCH. Oh yeah, you know I’m a star.

I knew I wanted to do this color combination when I was picking things out, but it still took me over a week to get around to wearing it. But that’s cool, right? I gotta carefully disperse the sure-thing-type outfits throughout the challenge so I don’t hit a dry spell at the end. (I don’t think that’s gonna happen, though, because I have been ultra-inspired by the garments I chose, and have a list approximately fifty outfits long. Gold star for me!)

Aaaaanyway, I bought a string of “pearls” (yeah, I did the bite test and they’re totally not real, but who cares) at the thrift store a few weeks ago, but have had trouble deploying it in my regular-style outfits. On the one hand, they look a little too dressy to me to pair with my usual business-casual-cutesy way of dressing, but it seems overly fussy to wear them with a super-formal outfit. What to do? But I threw them on with the rest of this clothing, and it felt right, so I rolled with it. Pearl earrings are still easier, though.

Do you like pearls? How do you tend to wear them? GIVE ME YOUR SECRETS.

Also, happy Friday! I will be busy bachelorette-ing Tia up over the weekend, but at least I got off work an hour before this post went live. (Oh summer hours, this almost makes having to get up an hour earlier worth it. Almost.)

Oh, and P.S.: It’s still there! I have to check once in a while to make sure.

  1. I love this combination. It’s so colorful and fab! That, and your tattoo looks awesome here, even if you had to do creative things to show it off. πŸ˜‰

Those sandals are the best. THE BEST.

  2. My key to pearls is this awesome necklace that was a hand-me-down/heirloom from my mom — a gift my dad gave her years and years ago. It’s tiny pearls spaced about 1 inch apart on a delicate gold chain that sits right at the base of the throat. Goes with everything.

I have also been known to wear a giant strand of giant fake pearls as a belt. I feel like I should have sky high heels, skin-tight jeans, and faux fur, but the hint at tackiness makes it a bit awesome to me.

If you could switch the skirt and shirt colors, you could call this traffic light scheme! I really love the shirt.

  3. YES.

Yes to the colours, the tatt, but mostly to your face. Amazing. In a good way! πŸ˜€

My friend has a string of (real) pearls that are all irregular, which I feel is easier to wear with normal clothes. But she often wears it with not-dressy stuff, and really makes it look amazing. Edgy, ya know? My favourite is when she wears it with ‘tough’ outfits, like jeans and a leather jacket. Hawt.
