Tank top: Goodwill — Blazer: Thrifted (Stoosh) — Shorts: Goodwill (Express) — Wedges: 6pm.com (Sam & Libby) — Necklace: DIY

Another thing to love about summer hours at work? We can wear shorts, as long as they’re nice shorts. And I think we can all agree (although you guys can’t see the silver-thread pinstripe they have) that these are pretty dang nice.

I actually have been referring to these as my “formal shorts” around the office, but I don’t think anybody gets the joke.

(“Invite her to my quarters. Oh, and have the boy lay out my formal shorts.”

‘The boy,’ sir?”

You. You lay out my formal shorts.”)

Anyhow, I trundled around work in my formal shorts (and my newly-dyed blue-violet hair) and felt mighty fine. This outfit is almost like a play on the shorts-suit idea, except…well, I guess it actually is a play on the idea, I just didn’t plan it that way. I just use my much-loved short-sleeved blazer to keep me looking dressy when I decide to try other weird things out at work.

Although wearing the blazer did mean that a lot of the cute embroidery on this top was covered up, but that’s just a cross I’ll have to bear.

As a side-note, I tried making a little bottle necklace filled with dandelion fluff based on this sort of design that I kept seeing around the internet, but somehow my version doesn’t look quite as whimsical as the pictures had led me to believe it would. I might dump the fluff and fill it with teeth or something instead.

  1. Teeth!!!! You should see if your parents kept any of your baby teeth. Then you could wear part of yourself. I guess it would be creepier if they were other people’s teeth.
