Hello, everybody! And happy July! We’re halfway through 2012 already? When did that happen, I beg of you? Things need to slowwwwww down a bit, for realsies. I’m going to blink and corn season will be over! (Not that Tia will credit California corn, but if I have to give her one thing that the Midwest does better, I’m happy to concede the corn vote. We’ve got all the other vegetables anways.)

Real talk, folks: I am in the worst, crabbiest mood at work today, and I am fighting to keep it down by remembering that I’m leaving for the airport after work tomorrow and then I’ll have four whole days of vacation to hang out in the leafy, cool forests of western Washington! Not that I’m bragging or anything–I’m just trying to keep from chewing off my own fingers with frustration over little bitty things that normally wouldn’t have me in such a grump.

Anyway–this was another one of those outfits from last week where I went overtly matchy-matchy in order to try and save my poor tired brain from trying to work at its usual capacity. Going blue and white made this significantly easier, and had the added benefit of making me feel like a piece of Delftware.

Plus, even though strawberries have basically come and gone already, I went ahead and repped them anyway with a cute pin from the always-illustrious Katie. Really, I could use more fruit brooches in my life, but strawberries are a good place to start. So cheery! I can feel the grumps subsiding (a little) already.

What do you guys do when you’re in a bad mood at work? Any good tips or tricks for getting through the day without inflicting emotional or physical harm upon your coworkers? As for me, I think a snack and some mindless data entry will go a long way toward putting me in a more Mia-like mindset again…

I’m very sure this is the first time I’ve ever been called “illustrious.” And I’m running with it! Expect to see it on my next of business cards.*

Have the most amazing time in wet Western Washington. When The Rocket Scientist and I went to northern California to hang out with the redwoods, it was amazing. Except that I learned I have the inexplicable ability to NEVER SEE banana slugs (even though they’re bright orange) and then step on them. My hiking boots were such weapons of death that trip 😦

And next time you’re crabby? 5 minute dance party! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJtegPkXhE4&feature=player_embedded#!

*I once tried to convince an employer that my official title should be “Museum Goddess.” They didn’t go for it.

  2. Or not, because that comment disappeared? Maybe? I don’t know how the internets work.

Anywho, here’s what I said in case it did disappear. And if it didn’t, huzzah for repetition!

I will now put “illustrious” on all my business cards. You are too kind.

Be careful not to step on banana slugs when you’re out west. I apparently have a blind spot for ’em, and was the cause of many a slug death when The Rocket Scientist and I were in northern California. So sad 😦

And next time you’re grumpy, have a 5 minute dance party! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJtegPkXhE4&feature=player_embedded#!

Oooh I love your matchy outfit! Navy and white make a good combo. When I’m real grumpy at work, I like to take a walk to get some tea, have a snack, and then blast music that is inappropriate for work in my headphones. And YAAAY vacation! Leafy, cool forests sound wonderful.

  4. ooooh wordpress ate my comment too! I wonder if it’ll show up later.

anyway, I love this matchy matchy ensemble yet again! I’m a sucker for matchy shit 🙂

so… what I had said was ways to improve a bad mood at work:

    1. mindless activity + headphones + favorite jams = mood booster
    2. take a midday 15 minute stroll and call a dear friend or family member
    3. PUPPIES: http://www.ustream.tv/sfshiba

  5. Yay for Delftware-Mia! So pretty in blues and whites. When I’m bitchy at work, I turn to music and a quick dose of webcomics.

Hahaha at Katie. She’s having a day isn’t she. Hope the computers start treating you better!
It’s funny you mentioned Delftward, that’s what I thought when I saw all that blue and white. Very pretty outfit Mia.
I’ve never had California corn, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t think California when someone mentions corn 😉 And you can’t have all the other vegetables either. I know for sure Michigan grows lots and lots of yummy asparagus!
I got my book in the mail yesterday! hooray! And a lovely card with an even lovelier drawing inside. Thanks! As soon as I am done with my current book, I will be tucking into French Milk 🙂
