Dress: Gift — Cardigan: Nordstrom Rack — Scarf: Vendor in Hawaii — Socks: ? — Shoes: Thrifted (Naturalizer) — Bracelet and necklace: Gifts
Today, I would be remiss if I didn’t inform you guys–those of you who don’t obsessively read The Hairpin, anyway–that today is Squittleday. No, not Spittleday, Squittleday! Don’t be gross. You know, the official squid/cuttlefish day during the International Cephalopod Awareness Days! Oh, if only I had serendipitiously worn something cephalopodic (like my birthday gift from Tia) on Friday to make things tie nicely together.
Instead, you’ve just got me in socks, a dress, and a scarf, as per usual. And for some reason the scarf was photographing as a sort of wilted orange-juice orange instead of its usual vibrant orange-soda orange. I promise you, though, it was really cute. (Maybe this was the work of…a cephalopod? DUH-NUHHHHH.)
I’m glad that now is the time for sock weather–it lets me stretch my creative muscles in a way I don’t get to during the summer! I think I prefer the shape of the dress on its own without the cardigan, but the socks tie into the outfit a little better when it’s there.
One of my coworkers actually complimented me on my sock-to-cardigan matching capabilities and said it would have made her mother proud. I’m glad someone’s mother is proud of me!
(Just kidding, my mom is great, and as supportive as can be of her weird little daughter. Plus, she gave me this pretty bangle for my birthday. Love you, Mom!)
Ah, see, there’s that nice saturated orange. To leave you on a distinctly squiddy note, here’s a video that I haven’t linked to in a while:
Warning: this may scare the bejeebus out of you if you don’t like the idea of big scary alien-looking things swimming around in the ocean and possibly coming up on land someday to conquer us all. If, on the other hand, you’re in a Halloweeny mood, also check out the cool and bizarre vampire squid! Yes, someday they’ll be our overlords, no question about it.
