Over the summer I completely forgot what these loafer-heels actually look like, and was a bit surprised when I dug them out for cooler weather. Apparently my imagination had grafted on at least another 2″ in heel height?
Go figure. It’s better that they’re like this, really, since super-high heels are not exactly my forte, so the more modest height means I can wear them more than three times this fall and winter.
I’ll confess that at least 90% of the reason I bought these babies was because of the tassels. The wee little tassels! I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them.
Plus, these shoes just seem to invite socks to come out and play with them, and who am I to resist? (This is, in part, because when worn sockless or with tights, the shoes squeak embarrassingly when one tries to walk discreetly down one’s work hallway to go get more tea from the break room. So really, socks are practically mandatory unless I want to earn a cruel playground-style nickname about Squeaky Feet.)
I actually tried a little trick this time where I folded down the elastic inside the rest of the sock to make them look slouchier/less-athletic, and I think it worked pretty well. Score one for the home team!
What do y’all have planned for this weekend? Me, I’m all booked up (haha, I made a funny) because it’s already time again for the October edition of Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon, yessir! Tito, my awesome friend and co-blogger at Nisaba Be Praised, will be coming over to my place and we’re going to spend Saturday readin’ up the joint, so check out our blogspam if you’re in the mood for silly book banter.
We’re even running a mini-challenge this year where participants in the Read-a-Thon can win a prize! Yeah, all professional-like and stuff, it’s gonna be wicked cool.
Oh yeah, and I almost forgot, I dyed my hair again on Monday or some crap like that. I had originally planned on a full head of orange, but it turns out that I only had a wee little smidgen of Napalm Orange left in the bottle, so black and orange it was! And I think it looks pretty fly like this, so we’ll pretend it was the plan all along. Good? Good.
