Button-front: From Leah’s free pile (Old Navy) — Skirt: Gift — Thigh-highs (folded down as OTKs): Sock Dreams N40s — Shoes, belt, necklace, and bracelet: Thrifted — Earrings: Target

Things were a bit blustery yesterday, so I had to quickly take my pictures in the darkening gloom and scurry back inside before the sky decided to dump all over me. (It wasn’t actually raining at the time, but I’m never one to eschew a good prop.)

What with the time change and all, soon it’s going to be way too dark when I get home to take pictures outside. I was totally spoiled with the beautiful evening light at the end of summer, but those days are definitely gone now. Cry, cry, weep, wail and sob!

I’ll have to go back to my goofy kitchen setup from last winter, or start getting up earlier to take pictures outside in the mornings, or some combination of the two.

‘Course, I can’t really complain since our inclement weather is still relatively mild compared to a lot of the world. Speaking of, the Red Cross is still collecting money for folks whose lives got all screwed up by the hurricane, so you should think about helping out if you can!

Anyway, how do you handle outfit pictures when the weather gets bad? Is your house less of a mess and/or more brightly-lit than mine is? Both of those easily-fixable factors would probably make this much less of a dilemma for me…

Oh, and finally, here’s my second new pair of glasses. Ta-da! Mike hates them and thinks they’re too big and hipstery, but I think he’s just in denial about what a hipster I really am. To which I say, don’t be a hater. *puts on giant headphones, rolls away on fixie*

I love your glasses! I recently upgraded from some rectangular frames to a larger pair of cat-eye (talk about hipster) and what I really dig is how much more of my field of vision the lenses cover now! I’m sure that’s terribly dorky, but there it is. Also, your earrings… I need them. Target, here I come!

PS: The first pic reminds me of an updated Mary Poppins, and I say that with total admiration. So BA.

PPS: I think you’ve really been hitting it out of the park style-wise recently. Not that you weren’t before — just that lately, every time I see one of your outfits, I LOOOOVE it. Caps and all.

  2. This is a brilliant skirt, such a rich color, and wonderful full pleats. The umbrella is a very cool touch. I like your glasses, too. Mike should embrace your inner hipster 😛

Indoor pics are such a challenge. Our house is small with no good lighting, and while there are lots of pretty backdrops in the historic house I work in, there’s no florescent or overhead lighting. The best time to get pics would be mid-afternoon, but I hate taking them in front of other peeps. Must get over that 😛

  3. Lovely lovely lovely skirt, and look at those heels! And earrings! What an interesting shape! During the winter my photos just get really really dark. Really really really dark. The city always looks cool behind me, but it’s hard to see me. Otherwise… weekend photos only I guess. It’s kind of depressing.

Thank you for the Sunshine Award! I answered all ten of your awesome questions! http://delayedmissives.com/post/2609541147/the-sunshine-award

Those glasses are awesome! And I say that with the full force of someone who is completely disdainful of hipsters. (Get off my lawn, you hipster kids!)

  5. Oh Mike. I think he has failed to realize just how many hipsters surround him. Braden is like the ultimate hipster, and you make a pretty adorable hipster yourself. Those glasses are pretty killer. This skirt is super faaab.
