Blouse: Swapped — Slacks: Thrifted — Flats: 6pm.com (Frye) — Earrings: Fab.com (Tiklari) — Belt: Van Heusen — Ring: Hand-me-down

Who’s tired of tights weather? Mia’s tired of tights weather.

More specifically, I’m tired of it being too cold to go barelegged in the morning but then warm and pleasant in the afternoon. Layering is all well and good, but my coworkers would probably notice if I shucked the tights around lunchtime. That being the case, out come the pants!

I’ve mentioned that I have difficulty styling slacks sometimes without looking shlumpy, but I like how this outfit turned out. I kept it simple, with just a little pattern-mixing (plaid+leopard if you look closely at the belt) and some chunky jewelry. I have to baby my ears for a few days after wearing these heavy earrings, but they’re worth it.

And they go so well with this ring that my mom passed down to me.

Chelsea’s had some great pants-based work outfits lately, so don’t be surprised if you see me playing off her style. It’s homage, I tell you, homage!

  1. Homage away, darling! This outfit rocks my world. I need more wide-leg trousers in my life. I never thrift pants, but you and your fantastic bum always make me wanna try. This outfit is just lovely. Also I totally have scoped out those earrings on fab.com so many times. They look marvelous!

  2. Mia, have you ever tried those sticky patches you can wear on the back of your earlobes? They’re for older ladies/anyone who has stretched lobes, but I’ve been wondering if they’d take a little pressure off of heavier earrings.

They’re on my wish list. If I get any before you do, and If they do a lick of good, I’ll mail you some.

  3. Warm and pleasant in the afternoon? If only! Although it’s getting to be spring weather here… I think. Like this week in the 40s, which is practically sweltering.

I always have trouble with slacks, which is why I don’t wear them. I feel like I’m playing dress up at being a grown up or something, which lead me to giving all of mine away after college.

    • Haha, I’m sorry. I guess I can’t really complain–it’s usually in the 30s here when I leave for work and all this week it’s going to be in the mid-60s up to 70 in the afternoon! It’s the yo-yoing that I don’t like.

My main trouble with slacks is wearing them in a way that still feels fresh and interesting. I don’t always manage it, but sometimes I do!
