Dress: eBay (Anthro) — Cardigan: Thrifted — Socks: Target — Boots: eBay (Steve Madden Troopas) — Pendant: Hand-me-down

Happy Halloween to everybody who celebrates it! No happy Halloween to the rest of you.

You’ll see my costume tomorrow, so for now you just get to look at me dressed as a regular ol’ Mia, with OTKs and florals and whatnot.

But hey, unicorns are scary, right? Ooooooh, they’re an outdated and troubling representation of the social construct of virginity and sexual purity, oooOOOOoooOOOooh!

Sweater and flats: Thrifted — Skirt: Leah’s free pile — Necklace: DIY — Bracelet: Gift

Some days I sit here and laugh at my own outfit pictures, because if I don’t vary my poses enough it looks like I’m slowly rotating on a lazy Susan.

Look, see, I did something different with my legs!

I do like showing multiple angles of the outfit, though, as well as accessory close-ups.

Maybe it’s not necessary, but I have fun with it, and I feel like it gives a better idea of how the outfit moves and works in real life. Of course, I might just be overthinking things as usual, but that’s blogging for you. (Well, that’s Mia’s blogging for you, anyway.)

Sweater and skirt: Thrifted — Shoes: Payless — Tights: Target — Socks: Sock Dreams (Heather Bobby Socklings in Pink) — Earrings: Gift from Katie!

When I heard it was going to be in the sixties on Monday, I panicked a little bit and ended up in tights and a sweater.

I ended up ditching the tights after lunchtime because, of course, 63-degree weather isn’t all that inhospitable, and things were in fact quite pleasant as I was leaving work at 5pm.

After a summer of 90-degree days, I sometimes forget how other temperatures work.

Dress: Solano Stroll — Sandals: Dansko — Socks: Sock Dreams (Heather Bobby Socklings in Bark) — Bangle: Thrifted — Earrings: Etsy

A low-backed wrap dress may not be traditional farmers’-market clothing, but what can I say?

I felt like dressing up a little.

I thought dark brown accents would go well with this dress without making things too visually overwhelming. With an already-busy garment like this, sometimes simple accents are the best.

Although some people–like Kasmira–might disagree with me, and truth be told, I might disagree with myself if you ask me again in a month.

I am but a fickle and ever-changing lass, wild and free. I also like fruit snacks.

Top: Swapped — Skirt, belt, and flats: Thrifted — Earrings: Gift from Katie! — Scarf: Fab.com (Practical Impact)

I think I’m finally learning how to wear infinity scarves, you guys.

When I originally got this one in the mail, the fabric was stiffer than I’d expected, and my first attempt at styling it was a bit…saggy.

I think I’ve got it figured out, though. The volume of this iteration seems much better.

So far the only infinity scarves I have are this one and my floaty yellow one. Honestly, that’s probably enough, but I do like that I don’t have to fiddle-fart around with scarf ends or anything. They’re so damn cozy that I just want to burrow into one and not come out until it’s May.

Top, pants, scarf, and bracelets: Thrifted — Oxfords: Payless — Earrings: Etsy

Pants and I have such a complicated relationship. I enjoy wearing pants quite a bit, but as I’ve mentioned ad nauseum before, finding pairs that will fit my hips and waist is something of a challenge.

That’s probably why I’ve held onto this brown pinstriped pair for so long–they’re not particularly envelope-pushing in terms of style, but DANG they’re comfortable.

And at least I can jazz things up a little bit with a headscarf!

I’ve had to jettison a few pairs of work-appropriate pants recently–my body has changed and they don’t fit so well anymore–so I’m vaguely in the market for some new ones. What are your go-to pants, if any? Or do you eschew them entirely?

Top: Leah’s free pile — Skirt: Goodwill [redyed by me] — Leggings: Target — Boots:  eBay (Steve Madden Troopas) — Ring and earrings: Nervous System

You might be wondering why I decided to remix my Fangirl outfit now, less than a month after putting it together the first time.

Well, even if you’re not wondering, you’re gonna get an answer.

[wordless screaming]

(Uhh, that’s Rainbow Rowell kindly posing with me, in case that part wasn’t clear. So many thanks to Rainbow and to David Levithan for doing an awesome reading and signing on Sunday night, thanks to the staff at Books, Inc. on Van Ness for hosting them and having fun snacks and stuff, and thanks to Mike for driving us out to San Francisco and hanging out around the bookstore while I got my fangirl on. I actually bought a nice copy of Eleanor and Park, but we had to take the matchy-matchy picture, obviously.

Book signings are the greatest, you guys.)
