Tee: Goodwill — Jeans: Nordstrom Rack — Socks: Sock Dreams (Heather Bobby Socklings in Rust) — Heels: Thrifted (Naturalizer) — Belt: Target — Bracelet: Gift — Earrings: Hand-me-down
On Friday I had the opportunity to wear jeans to work. That doesn’t happen very often–our office is mostly a jeans-free zone–so I wanted to make the most of it, but I also had a meeting that day, so I ended up in a bit of a tizzy about what to wear.
Maybe you know what I mean–would flares and flats look too casual? Would skinnies and heels look too sexy? Work-appropriateness can be a tough line to toe, especially when some workplaces have decided that certain natural parts of our bodies such as hair or breasts are inherently “unprofessional” looking.
In the end I’m pretty happy with the look I wore. As so often happens, the green tee was tagged in at the last minute because the button-front I’d planned to wear was an awkward length, and I ended up looking a little bit casual, but I think the heels pulled it together without looking overtly sexy. Maybe I’m a little bit glad that we don’t get to wear jeans too often, though–the visual politics are exhausting.
