It may or may not be apparent from these photos, but last week I moved into the world of makeup-owners by buying my first ever lipstain!

(Well, it’s definitely not apparent from this photo, but you know what I mean.)

As you may have noticed, I’m not one much for makeup–like, ever–but I like this lipstain’s pretty red color a lot, and it doesn’t make me feel like I have to go and slap on a full face of foundation and mascara to go with it. (A full face of makeup is a-OK for other folks, don’t get me wrong! And it would be a-OK for me too if I was in the mood–but let’s face it, I’m generally not.) Just a little something for fun! I took a couple of selfies to celebrate, and to get used to what it looks like. It doesn’t seem so obvious in these pictures, but red lips felt really VISIBLE when I first tried them, you know? Sometimes change is scary, but in this case it’s a good kind of scary.

  1. I love the lipstain on you! I wear makeup, but not daily. I didn’t until I was in my early twenties. I don’t like my mouth/jaw area so I can’t really pull off a red lip without drawing too much attention to something I’m uncomfortable about, but it looks so good on you! I love your pretty facial features! Also, those socks. Lay it on me, are they super high? Usually thigh highs are knee-length on me. I’m not sure how tall you are…

  2. Stains are a great low-maintenance product! I love the ones I have.

I think red lips feel really visible to everyone at first. Of course, at first for me was age five (ballet) and then later age 14… now I’m totally into Revlon’s Black Cherry. It was also like WHOA at first, but I got used to it.

  3. WORDS GONE GIVE ME SKIRT NOW LADY.
This skirt makes me froth at the mouth with it’s adorableness…also, your lipstain is both subtle and pretty. When I wear makeup now, I usually just wear lip gloss. Julep makes some totally awesome ones. I even have an orange one I like!

  4. I THINK I HAVE A FASHION BONER FOR THAT SKIRT OMG

    It’s like poppygloriousness

As for the lippie, I think it looks great! I own a thing of eyeliner that gets worn like once a month max and a tube of burt’s bees tinted balm in the darkest berry shade. That’s the extent of my make-up wearing.
