Cardigan and earrings: Target — Top: Thrifted — Skirt: Leah’s free pile — Boots: Woman Within — Ring: Nervous System

You know, I could’ve sworn I’d worn this cardigan/shirt/skirt combination already, but I can’t find it anywhere in the archives.

Maybe I just dreamed that I did?

Even if I had worn it, I’d be posting these pictures anyway. Repeat outfits aren’t hurting anyone!

If you’re a regular reader of personal style blogs, how do you feel about seeing outfits repeated? What do you get out of reading style blogs? Are you looking for inspiration? Do you like to feel a personal connection with the blogger? Or are you just distracting yourself from the inevitability of time?

All of the above, and I have no objection to repeated outfits/ frequently re-mixed pieces.

I’ve said this before, but you and Tia were and are a huge inspiration to me— a reminder that clothing can be about fun and color, not about perfectionism or assimilation. *fist bump*

As a regular reader of style blogs… Yes, inspiration. And, style being such a personal thing (when it is style rather than trends), I like to feel there is some reflection of the blogger as a person in the blog, and tend to feel – with those that I do want to follow – that I would probably like that person, were I to know them in real life. As such, repeat outfits are certainly great, and I am happy to look at pleasing a combination again (like that shirt + that ring; the shade of that skirt + that of the cardie), and after all I do not have a complete catalogue of everything I have ever seen, stored in my memory. If it is a garment that I remember but in a new combination, all the better. I know that I often get great joy out of repeatedly pairing certain items that just work wonderfully together (and even more so if I acquired them continents + years apart, as has been known to happen), but often there will still be other variations in the outfit, so I assume that bloggers I read are similar to me in that way.

  3. I repeat outfits all the time, and I feel that people who don’t must have a much bigger closet than I do. And I have a ton of stuff! That reminds me, I need to purge it again and donate to Goodwill….*wanders off*

  4. I like seeing pieces reused. I wear the same things over and over, and seeing style bloggers who are ALWAYS wearing different pieces feels really unrealistic and puts extra pressure on me to buy buy buy (which I’m trying to do a lot less of lately). I really, really need to get rid of a lot of things that I never wear, but I develop such an attachment to a lot of my clothes, even if I don’t ever wear them. It’s hard for me to get rid of stuff.
