Dress: eShakti — Jacket: Ragstock — Knee-highs: Sock Dreams (Heather Socklings in Plum) — Shoes: Golden Ponies — Necklace: Thrifted — Earrings: Hand-me-down

This jacket, with its plaid elbow patches and lined hood, is almost certainly my last clothing purchase of 2014–and will probably be my last for a while.

(Unless I come across any really good cardigans or a good deal on more Born flats, anyway.)

I’ve been feeling uncertain about my style for a lot of this year, which has prompted new purchases and clothing dumps and a lot of dissatisfaction with my outfits.

It makes me feel wasteful to buy something, even from the thrift store, and then give it back after one or two wears because it’s not really right, but I guess being alive is about making mistakes and trying things even if they don’t always work out.

I think everything in these pictures will stick around for a while, but check back with me in a year. We’ll see.

  1. I find that my style is continually evolving. While I try to purchase items that will work in my wardrobe and get plenty of use, sometimes it simply doesn’t. I feel no guilt in passing along such clothing, because my initial purchase helped the charity, and re-donating it gives someone else an opportunity to help and/or benefit.
