I don’t use the “navy” tag on this blog very much, since navy isn’t usually my first choice for neutrals and I don’t have much of it in my closet, but I guess I really should use it in reference to this shirt. I think of it as blue, but isn’t it navy?

20160113-image6-2

Where’s the line for navy, anyway? Is it a question only of shade or also of saturation? I guess I could look it up, but I’d rather ask you.

(Please to ignore the my phone; the sticky note just has a to-do list on it. I make to-do lists on my phone, on my computer, on Habitica, and it still isn’t enough. It’s a wonder I get anything done.)

Anyway, I find myself grateful that this blog doesn’t have a “mustard” tag in addition to “yellow,” or I’d be here all day.

I love this dress. I love how yellow it is. I love how it makes me look like a happy circus tent.

20160105-IMG_5229

It’s not restrictive so I could conceivably escape peril while wearing it, but it also goes nicely with argyle!

20160105-IMG_5223

Even action clothing has its limits, though, so please enjoy a few examples of why I don’t try to do jumping (or in this case, high-kicking) pictures for the blog anymore.

It’s dignity! Gah! Don’t you even know dignity when you see it?!

Dress: eShakti — Shoes: Dansko — Belt: Thrifted (Target) — Bangle: Thrifted — Earrings: Gift from Megan Mae

Ahoy-hoy! Remember me? My dad’s been visiting–just left this morning, as a matter of fact–so it’s been a little hectic around here the last few days and a couple days off the blog were a necessity. (Also Monday was my birthday, but that’s beside the point.)

20150905-IMG_4670

My usual photo spot was a little crowded, so I gave the spare room a shot. It’s mostly a storage space, with a dash of Flat Tire’s food and unmentionables, and also where I keep my clothes-drying rack (thus the cameo by that floral shirt I got at the Vintage Fashion Faire). The light isn’t quite as good as in the dining room, but it’s not bad for a backup plan.

Also, check out these earrings from Megan Mae! She threw them in with the purse I bought from her recently, and I’m a fan. Seems like they were a little jittery about their first appearance on this blog, though. Next time I’ll have to calm them down first.

Rainbow chip necklace: too on-the-nose for the week after Pride?

20150629-IMG_4286

Maybe, but I don’t know that I’ve ever been a bastion of subtlety. (Most people I know probably thought I was just being an enthusiastic straight ally; such is the reality of bi erasure! Ah, well.)

20150629-IMG_4288

This necklace doesn’t get much wear anymore for a couple reasons; Monday morning when I was getting ready, I finally thought to fix one of them.

20150629-IMG_4287

I just quickly put together a chain extender with some of my jewelry-making supplies, and bingo-bango, an awkwardly short necklace was immediately a much more pleasing length.

20150629-IMG_4290

The necklace still has its inherent rainbow qualities, which means that it’s a little too much for many of even my outfits, but I do think it’ll get more wear now. Thanks for your patience, little rainbow necklace.

20150513-IMG_3971

This outfit: meh. It doesn’t “spark joy,” as Marie Kondo would say. (Sally’s always bringing interesting phrases into my life.) It’s serviceable, though!

20150513-IMG_3974

It covered my butt, and that’s sometimes all you can ask of clothing.

Friday was the first anniversary of a hard-to-describe concept among my friends known as the “Space Witch.” Well, maybe it’s not hard to describe: it’s like if a witch were from space. You know, like Diana. Diana does Space Witch very well.

20150501-IMG_3907

I admire the whole Space Witch thing quite a bit, even though I’m not much of one myself, so I dressed accordingly with jewelry accents that remind me of the harsh, unrelenting rays of the sun.

20150501-IMG_3910

You can check out other folks’ thematic outfits (and some other unrelated tweets besides) on Twitter; I think it can safely be said that we crushed it. Thanks, Space Witches!

20150416-IMG_3780

Most days when I’m getting dressed, I have to pick between largish earrings and largish necklace. The common piece of advice about not crowding your face too much is a fair one!

20150416-IMG_3782

Sometimes it’s just too much and throws the balance off. If you know me at all, you know that earrings usually end up winning out. I’m just an earring person; it’s in my blood. (You should see my mom’s collection.)

20150416-IMG_3783

Once in a while, though, there’s a day where I look at my options and decide to go for the gusto.

20150416-IMG_3785

Then it’s earrings and necklace galore, and I enjoy having my face crowded a little bit. After all, nobody has to dress for balance if that’s not what they want.

20150416-IMG_3784

Take that, advice!
