Guess who overslept on her first day back to work in the new year?! I completely spaced on resetting my alarm after the holidays like a champ. Fortunately, my boss was very understanding, and I’m also glad that I remembered all the appropriate pieces of clothing while rushing to get dressed. Any potentially positive aspects of this outfit just frosting.

It’s been a long time since I’ve worn double necklaces! (And even longer since I remembered to use the right and proper tag for such things.)
I don’t think I would’ve put these two together, except I was organizing my jewelry and hanging the necklaces back on their cork board, and they happened to end up layered. Thus, an idea was born.
They’re both pretty big and vibrant on their own and might be a bit much paired, but–well.
People have come to expect a bit much from me, so at least nobody thinks anything of it.

Most days when I’m getting dressed, I have to pick between largish earrings and largish necklace. The common piece of advice about not crowding your face too much is a fair one!
Sometimes it’s just too much and throws the balance off. If you know me at all, you know that earrings usually end up winning out. I’m just an earring person; it’s in my blood. (You should see my mom’s collection.)
Once in a while, though, there’s a day where I look at my options and decide to go for the gusto.
Then it’s earrings and necklace galore, and I enjoy having my face crowded a little bit. After all, nobody has to dress for balance if that’s not what they want.
Take that, advice!

Had enough light after work yesterday to take pictures outdoors for the first time in a while–and you know what? I don’t know if I like it anymore!
Now that I finally have a decent indoor setup, outside pictures are just so…outside-y. I guess we’ll see how I feel in a month or two. I’m so capricious, you know. You can never guess what I’m gonna do next. (Probably more outfit pictures.)

Grays have been very appropriate for the last few days, since we’ve been awash in fog and overcast skies. Some more rain would be nice in addition to the cold, but I also enjoy fog in its own way. Very theatrical and atmospheric.
I also enjoy being photobombed by Flat Tire. What’s she thinking about here? Cat stuff, I guess.
Sometimes she gets enamored of the shutter’s clicking and wanders in circles in front of my photo area trying to figure out where it’s coming from.
Between that and the Petcube that Mike got as a toy for
her himself, it’s a wonder that sight and sound have meaning for her anymore.
And now she’s sleeping on my laptop keyboard, making it very hard to type. You might say that she’s integral to the blogging process.

I’m lucky that we have private bathrooms in my building at work. Trying to take pictures when someone could walk in on me would be a little nerve-wracking. I still have trouble doing outfit photos in public, too; people watching make me very self-conscious. I guess if I were making money, I could power through like some of the big-name style bloggers do, but I don’t know how the other public-space folks manage. Better self-esteem, maybe?
Unrelatedly, I’ve been developing a concentrated gray streak on the left side of my head, which is kind of neat. I’m tempted to try and part my hair the other way to see if it does it on the other side too.

Indoor photos always increase the possibility of a Kitty Sighting by approximately 89%. (Look up top if her clever stripes deceived your eye.)
She’s just very, very curious about the camera, and my shoes, and the area where I’m taking pictures, and that thing on the wall, and so on and so forth.
Maybe I’ll start putting her in little outfits too?
