Welcome back, you! Welcome back, me! Welcome back, everybody!

How’s the year been treating you so far? I’m not a huge resolution-maker, but I have resolved to choose relaxation over anxiety or irritability when I can help it.

(I mean, I frequently can’t help it, but that’s what the medication is for.)

Possibly I should also resolve to stop losing my glasses in the couch, but let’s take things one step at a time here.

Dress: eBay (Maeve) — Jacket: Thrifted (no label) — Boots: eBay (Steve Madden Troopas) — Headband: The Faerie Market — Socks: Target — Ring: Vendor at Lake Bled — Earrings: B&A Estate Jewelry

Accidental slight variation on this outfit from February. I do like it, though.

Maybe it’s just that I like this dress. I’ve had it for a few years and it’s still one of my favorites.

It classes up the joint, you might say. Plus, I sewed the sides up to fit properly back in the day, and I remain proud of that. It was too baggy and I made it not-baggy!

It does poof out distinctly at the butt, lending the wearer a somewhat bustle-enhanced appearance. Is that a bug or a feature?

This headband’s all feature, anyway. All butts aside.

Dress: Lana — Jacket: Thrifted (Forever 21) — Shoes: Thrifted (Born) — Socks: Sock Dreams (Bobby Socklings in Moss) — Earrings: Target — Belt: Thrifted

It’s juuuuust on the edge of warm enough to go bare-legged around here, so every day I play chicken with the weather and see whether I’ll be freezing or sweltering until 5:00pm.

With in-between temperatures, I frequently seem to end up with icicle legs and an overheated torso. What’s the deal, body? Can’t you transport a little in each direction so the whole system’s happy?

Anyway, I get confused and try to even things out with linen dresses and jackets and socks and other strange mixes of garments.

Layering is not my strong suit, which is perhaps why I most love summer, when I just have to wear the minimum of clothing allowed by social mores and my workplace’s employee handbook. Maybe if I’d grown up in a colder climate, things would be different, but I have a genuinely hard time picturing a cold-loving Mia. She barely seems like me at all.

Some days Flat Tire costars in the outfit photos (or–let’s be real–outshines me altogether), and other days she’s a butt or a shoulder mysteriously lurking on the fringe.

One of these days she’ll make it into my detail shots, too, I have no doubt.

Top: Thrifted — Jacket: Thrifted (Converse OneStar) — Skirt: ASOS — Shoes: American Rag — Earrings: Solano Stroll — Ring: Shop in Hallstatt, Austria

Can I be real with you folks for a second? I made the mistake of not wearing a camisole with this outfit and I had an extremely hard time not showing my bra to coworkers all day.

Sometimes I forget what happens when you combine a low-cut shirt with a modest bosom.

I don’t know how I could, I’ve had the latter for most of my life. Inconvenient things they are sometimes, too. Down with secondary sexual characteristics! Down, I say!

Top: Thrifted — Pants: INC — Camisole: Old Navy — Boots: Macy’s — Jacket: Thrifted (Forever 21) — Earrings: Gift

I was inordinately proud of myself for putting this look together yesterday. My first couple of attempts were decidedly meh, but I gave the old hanky-hem tank top a shot and things started to come together.

Flat Tire seemed to approve, too. But then, she likes anything that gives me the freedom of movement to chase her around the house.

I also suspect that she would gladly eat these earrings if she could get to them. One of the many reasons I’m glad she doesn’t have thumbs or five more feet of height.

Jacket: Thrifted (no label) — Shirt: Target — Skirt: Thrifted (Banana Republic) — Leggings: Carouselink — Socks: Sock Dreams (Bobby Socklings in Moss) — Shoes: Thrifted (Born) — Earrings: Freehand Fig Jewelry (made by me)

Leggings may have actually been a little too warm for the freakishly pleasant weather we’ve been having lately, but hot damn they’re comfortable. Most of the designs that Carouselink is stocking right now aren’t really my style (although I’ve been warming up to the Victorian city ones), but I keep an eye on their wares so that I can buy a third pair at some point.

Speaking of Etsy stores with great items for sale (cough), these earrings are on sale in my shop! Well, not these ones exactly–I promise to send fresh ones. That’s my guarantee: fresh earrings or your money back.

Dress: eShakti — Jacket: Thrifted (no label) — Leggings: Leah’s free pile — Boots: eBay (Steve Madden Troopas) — Headband: The Faerie Market — Necklace: Gift — Earrings: Hand-me-down

These boots are getting a lot of wear this winter. Actually, so are my black boots, my black Born flats, and my falling-apart gray oxfords; I just haven’t been feeling my taller boots or heels, comfort-wise, and a couple of other pairs of shoes have either gone missing or fallen out of favor.

Time for me to give away or sell a few pairs and replace them, methinks.

I don’t know why my mind is on shoes lately. I guess it’s better than picking up pinworms from going barefoot everywhere, though.

Top: Thrifted (Bobeau) — Jeans: Tripp NYC — Boots: Macy’s — Jacket: Ragstock — Belt: Target — Earrings: MicDrop Design

This outfit has a secret. (Not a very well-kept secret but a secret nevertheless.)

BOOM. DOUBLE PLAID. And yet somehow I still don’t look like a lumberjack.

In other news: this cat. This friggin’ cat. Flat Tire has been all up ons every time I take outfit pictures lately. Maybe because she wants to break out into her own modeling career? She’s adding some stripes to the pattern mix here, at least.

I think she prefers nude modeling, though, based on her reactions when I try to help her wear a hat.

Jacket: Thrifted (Converse One Star) — Shirt, earrings, and leggings: Target — Skort: Thrifted (Gloria Vanderbilt) — Socks: Sock Dreams (Heather Over the Knee Stockings in Slate) — Boots: eBay (Steve Madden Troopas) — Belt: Thrifted

I wore this yesterday to a) hit up the farmer’s market, b) sit around reading at home and c) pick tangerines off the tree in our backyard.

You might not think of this as a particularly practical outfit for fruit-picking, but that’s the beauty of the skirt!

I think of it as my Sport Skort, actually, because it’s really pretty handy for any physical activities that I might engage in. Bike-riding! Leisurely hill-climbing! Cleaning the bathtub!

Okay, I’m no Action Jackson–but it works on my level, and the tangerines aren’t complaining.
