Welcome back, you! Welcome back, me! Welcome back, everybody!

20160103-IMG_5213

How’s the year been treating you so far? I’m not a huge resolution-maker, but I have resolved to choose relaxation over anxiety or irritability when I can help it.

20160103-IMG_5215

(I mean, I frequently can’t help it, but that’s what the medication is for.)

20160103-IMG_5219

Possibly I should also resolve to stop losing my glasses in the couch, but let’s take things one step at a time here.

I think my hair might be particularly enormous in these pictures.

20151215-IMG_5200

This is, of course, before I crushed it with my bike helmet so I could ride to work.

(We all have to make sacrifices in our lives.)

Mike’s already a little concerned about the quantity of hair I have (and, frankly, the quantity I shed)–if I just let it keep going, do you think it would take over the world?

Here’s a non-outfit outfit for youse. I wear these jeans a lot more than the blog would make it seem, but they’re not particularly interesting or flattering, so they don’t often show up in posts.

20151205-IMG_5129

At any rate, I wore this for some cleaning and errands–equally thrilling to write and hear about, I imagine–and then I drove out to the Bay Area for a dinner and book club get-together with some pals! Haven’t had one of those in a while.

20151205-IMG_5134

I honestly hadn’t been that excited to reread Fahrenheit 451, which I haven’t looked at since high school, but the conversation was rousing. And there are parts of the book that I appreciate, truly; it’s just hard for me to move past what a raw deal the female characters got. They’re all either frivolous ninnies or they teach the male hero a lesson and then die. I tells ya, it’s tough shakes being a woman in old-school science fiction.

Pink socks weren’t my first choice for this outfit, but sometimes you gotta go with what’s clean.

20151125-IMG_5081

Getting up and dressed in the mornings has been a struggle lately–it’s cold, it’s dark, and everything’s kind of a mess. I should really help myself out by working up the energy to organize outfits the night before.

20151125-IMG_5084

My morning hair-drying experiments continue apace, though, so at least that’s something.

This outfit is something I puzzled together to go see Vienna Teng again!

20151107-IMG_5047

I have a penchant for seeing her in November, I guess.

20151107-IMG_5050

This time it wasn’t just Vienna, but also most of the rest of the cast of The Fourth Messenger, a musical about a modern-day female Buddha. They performed a selection of the songs and then did a signing for the album release party! Neat!

20151107-IMG_5051

I’ll be honest–I just don’t know if I’m a big fan of musicals anymore. There were definitely a lot of good parts to The Fourth Messenger, though, and I’d recommend it if musicals are your thing. The performers were all excellent, particularly Cailan Rose and Reggie D. White. Vienna did some solo music after The Fourth Messenger, too, and that was delightful as always. A good outing to inaugurate my new leggings, indeed!

Sweater: Thrifted (Philosophy) — Skirt: ASOS — Shoes: 6pm.com (Frye) — Earrings: Sabo Design — Bracelet: Stars & Stripes Ltd in Philadelphia

20151103-IMG_5027

The other day I was rooting around in the closet for my store of cold-weather clothing and I happened to find a box…of shoes.

20151103-IMG_5029

Turns out that’s where my pink Frye flats went. I’d been missing them and a few other pairs–like some wedge sandals and several pairs of heels–for quite a while, and had pretty much given up on finding any of them.

20151103-IMG_5031

I guess I must have packed them up for our last move, and then they sat in a closet for a year and a half without ever being investigated. (No, you have too much stuff.)

20151103-IMG_5033

Honestly, I hadn’t missed the heels much, if at all, but I’m pleased to have these guys back in my repertoire. They’re still waterstained and altogether not a terribly robust-feeling pair of flats, but I do like them. They’re pink!

Button-front: Vintage Fashion Faire (Ship ‘N Shore) — Pants: Thrifted (Polo Ralph Lauren) — Shoes: 6pm.com (Dansko) — Earrings: Apostrophie — Bangle: Thrifted (Target)

20151009-IMG_4925

This outfit was pretty much inevitable, I think. It was just a matter of time.

20151009-IMG_4929

It works, right? I mean, I think it does, and I’m okay if you don’t. Life is a rich tapestry!

20151009-IMG_4932

Honestly, it’s not that surprising a mix to have made, even though it felt really edgy when I was getting dressed this morning. Same-size florals, both with pink/yellow/orange. Like I said, inevitable.

20151009-IMG_4935

did manage to keep from wearing my Labor Day Pow-Wow earrings, which itself feels inevitable every time I wear these pants.

20151009-IMG_4937

Those earrings, these pants, and these sandals. They make a very compelling case for themselves.
