When I put this outfit together I wasn’t sure about it, so I asked Mike if I looked weird.

20151120-IMG_5074

His response? “Usually.” Wise guy.

How about this week, folks? Woof.

20150514-IMG_3985

I wore this yesterday when we were supposed to get a thunderstorm, but all we ended up with was the mildest watering-can sprinkle during my ride home.

20150514-IMG_3995

We didn’t even get any sound or fury to signify the nothing! What a ripoff.

If you live in one of those magical places with regular summer thunderstorms, please appreciate them. Hug a thunderstorm today.

Hey, friends! How are you doing? I feel like I haven’t checked in recently.

20150302-IMG_3386

Tell me what’s been going on in your life lately. I’ve sort of been in a holding pattern myself, but things could definitely be worse.

20150302-IMG_3388

An example: in one of my attempts to act like an organized adult, I got some jars and have been putting my spices and dry goods in them instead of letting them sit in the plastic bags from bulk bins. The idea of thwarting pantry beetles is really pretty exhilarating, and the food looks like a thousand times fancier in glass.

20150302-IMG_3389

To supplement this project, I ordered some high-quality seasonings and spices from Penzeys on a friend’s recommendation, and everything just arrived yesterday. The Vietnamese cinnamon smells amazing and we made some great tacos with the taco seasoning tonight, so I’m pretty high on the spice hog.

Anyway, spices. Please feel free to share any thoughts you have, on spices or otherwise. I mean it!

When this skirt poofs out in a certain way, it really looks like a pair of pantaloons, doesn’t it? Maybe harem pantaloons, if that’s a thing.

Ooh! Harem pantaloons! Most intriguing.

Grays have been very appropriate for the last few days, since we’ve been awash in fog and overcast skies. Some more rain would be nice in addition to the cold, but I also enjoy fog in its own way. Very theatrical and atmospheric.

20150113-IMG_3106

I also enjoy being photobombed by Flat Tire. What’s she thinking about here? Cat stuff, I guess.

20150113-IMG_3107

Sometimes she gets enamored of the shutter’s clicking and wanders in circles in front of my photo area trying to figure out where it’s coming from.

20150113-IMG_3109

Between that and the Petcube that Mike got as a toy for her himself, it’s a wonder that sight and sound have meaning for her anymore.

20150113-IMG_3110

And now she’s sleeping on my laptop keyboard, making it very hard to type. You might say that she’s integral to the blogging process.

Have I already talked about how gray is basically the most comfortable-looking color?

20140204-IMG_1379

Well, it is–for me, at least. There’s something about grays that just look so cozy and reassuring.

20140204-IMG_1380

Texture is important too, obviously–a scratchy pair of gray slacks isn’t gonna feel all that cozy, even to me–but there’s something about wearing gray that makes me feel safe and bundled-up (especially when it’s this big loose cardigan).

20140204-IMG_1381

Does gray do that for you? What’s your most “comfortable” color? Have I asked this before? Am I repeating myself? Who are you people?

While a good portion of the US has been experiencing the megacold recently, things have been extremely mild and warm for January here in California. (Hello, climate change!)

20140108-IMG_1216

As such, I haven’t been able to wear any of the nice wool skirts I recently had dry-cleaned. Blast! Instead, I’ve been cobbling together outfits warm enough for 30-degree bike rides in the morning but cool enough for afternoons in the mid-60s.

20140108-IMG_1217

I hope all you folks in colder climes have been safe and comfortable–you might remember that I hate and loathe the cold from the very center of my heart, so the idea of negative temperatures is difficult for me to register. Take care of yourselves!

20140108-IMG_1218

I’m sorry I haven’t been able to wear my wool skirts, but I’m not that sorry.
