Top: Thrifted (Weston Wear) — Camisole: Target — Skirt: ASOS — Shoes: Golden Ponies — OTKs: Sock Dreams (Heather Over the Knee Stockings in Graphite) — Earrings: Lia Sophia

I’m all about the pattern on this top I thrifted a couple months ago, but jeez if the fabric doesn’t pill like a mother.

It’s super soft and cozy, which I guess contributes to the problem; I wore it two times before this (on our trip to NYC and Philly), and before wearing it a third time I had to get out my sweater shaver because the shoulder area where my purse usually hangs was significantly, visibly pilled up.

I mean, you probably wouldn’t’ve been able to see the pills in any of the full-body shots, but would know.

Also, pilling is just so distracting in detail shots. It just bugs me. So I guess this top will be getting regular shaves for as long as it otherwise holds up. Should I throw in the haircut for free?

Dress: Swapped (Banana Republic) — OTKs: Sock Dreams (Solid Over the Knee Stockings in Black) — Boots: Macy’s — Earrings: Gift from Katie!

I’ve told you I’m a member of a brunch club, yeah? Inasmuch as a bunch of friends and I meet about once a month in and around San Francisco to try out various restaurants’ brunch offerings. (And okay, we have a spreadsheet. Rigorous documenting of brunches!)

Last brunch club we met at CB’s house (she of the Vintage Fashion Faire) so that, after our delicious potluck, we could do a clothing swap! I haven’t been to a clothing swap in ages, so I really enjoyed the opportunity to trade things with this particular group of friends.

Anyhow, CB put in this wrap dress into the pile and I was ON IT. Great pattern, nice wrap, super comfortable–thanks for the awesome castoff, CB! She’s a gem, that one.

Unrelatedly, I’m trying a new thing with my hair where I blow-dry it upside-down on low with a diffuser, since it’s edging on too cold to leave for work with wet hair. This gets things dry while (mostly) maintaining the curls, but it also gives me kind of a silly amount of volume. Big hair, no heart?

Dress: Field Day — Camisole: Gap Outlet — Shoes: eBay (Eleanor Grosch Keds) — Earrings: Solano Stroll

I think I have more photos here than there are pieces to this outfit.

Mmyep, six is definitely bigger than four. I took AP Calculus in high school, can you tell?

You know, I wanted to continue studying calculus independently in college, but man, those textbooks were expensive. As a result, I haven’t Done a Math in probably ten years! I mean, I do math (poorly), but I haven’t sat down to think about fun math in a long, long time.

One thing I really miss is my graphing calculator. Shout-out to Texas Instruments! And shout-out to whoever figured out how to put games on there.

Block Dude was vital to my life senior year.

Dress: ASOS — Camisole: Old Navy — Shoes: Thrifted (Born) — Socks: Sock Dreams (Bobby Socklings in Inky Violet) — Belt: Thrifted — Earrings: Target — Ring: Nervous System

You wouldn’t really know it from these photos, but my bike tried to eat me yesterday.

Actually, I more or less fed it my skirt, so the bike can’t really be blamed. Things didn’t get chewed up nearly as much as I was expecting, though, so I got off light!

Just a small hole to sew up and some bike grease to work out. This dress is pilling a little faster than I would like–does all ponte do this?–but it should hold up pretty well if I’m kinder to it.

Maybe I’ll stop putting it in the dryer. (And stop letting my back wheel gnaw on it, too.)

Dress: ASOS — Cardigan: Thrifted (no label) — Camisole: Thrifted (Self Esteem) — Shoes: Thrifted (Born) — Socks: Sock Dreams (Heather Bobby Socklings in Graphite) — Ring: Gift — Earrings: Gift, from Greece

How about this week, folks? Woof.

I wore this yesterday when we were supposed to get a thunderstorm, but all we ended up with was the mildest watering-can sprinkle during my ride home.

We didn’t even get any sound or fury to signify the nothing! What a ripoff.

If you live in one of those magical places with regular summer thunderstorms, please appreciate them. Hug a thunderstorm today.

Dress: Field Day — Shirt: Target — Shoes: Golden Ponies — Earrings and bracelet: Gifts — Nail polish: Zoya “Darcy”

In my mind, gold shoes are a natural pair with this dress, evidently. I did it almost two months ago, and I’d do it again! I swear before the judge and jury I’d do it again.

In other news, I sometimes forget to take detail shots of the pattern on this dress, which is so intricate that it loses a little something in the big picture.

Not this time, though! I made sure to get several shots up close, because it’s worth studying.

And it IS a pattern that repeats, although I haven’t laid it out to determine the exact scale. You can sort of puzzle-piece match up shapes if you look at the whole thing.

I feel like I could learn some secrets of the universe if I just contemplated the lines long enough.

Dress: Gift (Lovely Girl) — Camisole: Thrifted (no label) — Shoes: Earthies — Ring: Shop in Hallstatt, Austria — Earrings: Vendor at Lake Bled, Slovenia

As my hair grows out, I’ve taken to clipping or pinning it out of my face when it gets too irritating. It’s perfectly at eye length in front, which is really delightful when I want to be distracted by wild hairs at the edge of my peripheral vision.

Personally, I think it makes me look kind of like Ayn Rand or like a 1940s schoolgirl, but at least one coworker has opined that they prefer it clipped up.

I don’t think my coworker’s an objectivist, but I could be wrong. I’ll have to casually bring up trains and see what happens.
