Even though I was really damn tired when I woke up at Tito’s house Sunday morning, I nevertheless hauled myself up and drove back home as soon as possible. Why? Because the Asparagus Festival was in town, bitches!
The Asparagus Festival is a local tradition, and it’s like most other street festivals you might find except that you can also get asparagus-flavored ice cream and “aspara-ritas” (margaritas, possibly also asparagus-flavored?).
I livetweeted but a fraction of the festival’s beauty, but if you’ve ever been to a local fair, you know what I’m talking about. Tie-dye booths everywhere. Overpriced funnelcake. That internet-famous skateboarding bulldog.
Anyway, I decked myself out in eye-searing brights and a hummingbird skull, and we wandered around laughing at everything until it was time to go home. I always have a kitschy-good time, and this year was no exception.
And you’d best believe the tie-dye lady was impressed by my pants.

I remember you talking about the asparagus festival in one of your letters. I’ve never been to an asparagus festival (or any vegetable festival for that matter) but it sounds like there’s so much interesting food!

Hot diggity those are some pants!! And an asparagus festival? What a perfect venue to wear them to. Our squarefest got rained out last weekend, so I’m hoping we have something else going on soon. I do love some street vendor food.
